Meet the Captain

Hello everyone! My name is Logan Lyon, owner and operator of Hookworx Guide Service. We service the Great Lakes region of Iowa, more specifically Okoboji and surrounding areas.

Targeting everything from bluegills and crappies to walleyes and bass, I am sure we can make memories that last lifetimes. Hookworx is committed to serving all age groups and experience levels. First timers and seasoned anglers alike are always welcome! First time fishing families are one of my favorite demographics. There’s nothing better than watching a youngster reel in his or her first fish!

The Hookworx Ranger 621vs is powered by a 300hp Mercury Verado and is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics which help locate fish as quickly as possible. This 21-foot vessel is sure to keep everyone safe and dry, allowing you to take full advantage of everything the Okoboji waters have to offer!

At a young age my father started a tradition with my two brothers and I. After doing our research in 2010 we decided to make our first trip to Canada. None of us knew what we were getting into. Our yearly Canadian fishing trip spiraled me deep into an addiction that I have yet to overcome to this day. Although I strive to catch anything that bites, walleye fishing is my passion. BIG walleyes hold a special place in my heart. They are the most challenging and heartbreaking fish to chase in my opinion. In 2020 I started down the road of tournament fishing, which helped teach me how to fish under pressure, and pivot quickly to find the bites needed to put together a winning program.

My favorite days on the water are the ones where I can teach someone a new technique or presentation that they were previously unaccustomed to. Whether this be electronics, baits, or general boat handling skills, I can ensure that you will step out of my boat having more knowledge than you did when you got in.
